18TH ANNUAL KISSIMMEE SUNSHINE REGIONAL CHILI COOK-OFF
KISSIMMEE, Fla. (January 13, 2014)—The City of Kissimmee will host the 18th Annual Kissimmee Sunshine Regional Chili Cook-off event on Saturday, January 18, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the Civic Lawn at the Kissimmee Lakefront Park.
Competitors from across the state of Florida and throughout the Nation will show off their chili cooking skills at this International Chili Society sanctioned event. All cooking is done on site and over 60 entries are expected to compete this weekend. Over $4,000 will be awarded in cash and prizes, including $1,500 for the 1st place winner. Competitive categories include ICS Chili, People’s Choice, Chili Verde, Salsa and new this year; Homestyle.
Local dignitaries, experienced chili judges and event sponsors will judge the chili. Residents and guests are encouraged to cast their votes for the People’s Choice Award from 12:30.to 2:30 p.m. The general public will be able to sample all of the competitor’s chili after 3:00 p.m. In addition to the chili tasting awards, there will be prizes for the best decorated booth.
The 18th Annual Kissimmee Sunshine Regional Cook-off is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is required to be a competitor.
This tasty event draws thousands of spectators each year, who come out to enjoy chili samples, live music, arts and crafts, a beer garden, great food and a kid’s play area sponsored by KUA. This year’s event will feature music from the group Hay Fire.

CITY OF KISSIMMEE OFFERS “NO SCHOOL” FIELD TRIP
KISSIMMEE, Fla. (January 8, 2014) — The City of Kissimmee will be offering a “No School” Youth Field Trip on Friday, January 17 from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Children ages five to 14 who are on break from school that day can participate in a full day of supervised fun on a field trip to SeaWorld. The fee is $35 and includes admission to SeaWorld and transportation. Each child must bring a packed lunch.
Pre-registration is required and an information packet must be completed and on file before the field trip. The deadline for registration is Monday, January 13. Registration is available at the Oak Street Park Community Center or online at www.kissimmeeparks.org.
Children will meet at the Oak Street Park Community Center located at 717 N. Palm Avenue for bus transportation to SeaWorld.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (December 27, 2013)—The City of Kissimmee will host the 18th Annual Kissimmee Sunshine Regional Chili Cook-off event on Saturday, January 18, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Kissimmee Lakefront Park Civic Lawn.
Competitors from across the state of Florida and throughout the Nation will show off their cooking skills at this International Chili Society sanctioned event. Participants battle for cash prizes in several competitive categories including Red Chili, Chili Verde, Salsa, People’s Choice and the newly added Homestyle category. The new Homestyle category is defined by the International Chili Society as “The cook’s favorite combination of ingredients resulting in a dish seasoned with chili peppers and spices”.
